About us

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Global Health & Security is a cross-party forum of Members of the UK Parliament with a shared interest in strengthening the United Kingdom’s engagement, understanding and policy leadership on global health as an essential pillar of international security and sustainable development.

Our Purpose

The APPG on Global Health & Security exists to bring together Parliamentary colleagues from across the political spectrum and across multiple health-related APPGs to:

  • Share insights and learning on international health policy and global health systems;
  • Facilitate collaborative research and evidence-based discussion on emerging and ongoing global health challenges; and
  • Make constructive cross-party recommendations that uphold investment in health as a fundamental component of global security and long-term development outcomes.

This approach recognises that health resilience, disease preparedness and strong health systems are not only matters of human wellbeing but are integral to national and global security policy. The Group serves as a parliamentary nexus for these interconnected issues, supporting informed debate and policy engagement.

Our Work

As an All-Party Parliamentary Group, we operate as an informal yet influential parliamentary forum (not an official committee of parliament) where MPs and Peers can explore multidisciplinary health issues, hear from experts and stakeholders, and stimulate parliamentary awareness and action. This includes sharing knowledge across health-focused APPGs, convening briefings and events, and contributing to policy discussions on topics where health intersects with national and international security.

We are committed to advancing understanding of the links between health investment, global health system resilience and security priorities, ensuring that the UK Parliament remains engaged with emerging global health challenges and opportunities.
